of those who
Welcome to St. John Villa Academy. For more than 90 years, the Sisters of St. John the Baptist have been providing quality education to the students of Staten Island and Brooklyn. Like St. John the Baptist, we help “prepare the way” of those who attend our Academy, helping them become self-sufficient, confident and compassionate community members. Most of the 20 sisters currently in residence at St. John Villa Convent serve as teachers, administrators and support staff within our Elementary and High Schools. This helps to insure that strong Catholic education and value formation serve as the basis for all that we do here at Villa. We proudly offer a broad base of programs to a diverse group of students with varying levels of academic, physical and artistic talent and ability. Our individualized approach is personal and allows our students to develop to their fullest capacity.
I have a strong personal connection to SJVA having taught and been principal several years ago. Since returning to Villa in my new role as President of the Academy, it is easy to recognize the many improvements that have been made in programs and facilities. High school students can now earn up to 30 college level credits thru our collaborations with St. John’s University and Wagner College. Many of our talented student athletes are now being recruited and being awarded scholarships to Division I and II level schools. New science labs, and laptop computers in both the Elementary and High Schools have been added.
While much has changed over the years, the Villa tradition and sense of family remains as strong as ever. Many of our dedicated faculty and staff are SJVA alumnae with a strong commitment to both their faith and a desire to insure that SJVA continues to thrive and its students prosper. Come experience what makes Villa so special by exploring this web site or through a visit to our school. I would welcome the opportunity to meet you, as a prospective student, parent, or friend of the school.
Sincerely in Christ,
